Tankers:      
 
NYK has sold the VLCC “KAI-EI” (299,997 dwt, Built IHI Marine United 2004, Sulzer) to Embricos for US$ 23.75 million.
 
We reported two weeks ago sale of the MR product carrier “HIGH BEAM” (46,646 dwt, Built Naikai Zisen 2009, epoxy, 4 pumps, MAN-B&W); we now understand she was sold with her sister vessel “HIGH CURRENT” (Built Naikai Zosen 2009) for an en bloc price of US$ 30 million. The vessels are ss due 2/2019 and 4/2019 resp.
 
According to an unconfirmed report, “TORM OHIO” (37,278 dwt, Built Hyundai Mipo 2001, IMO III. epoxy, 12 tanks/pumps, B&W) has been committed at a price in the low US$ 7 millions.
          
Greek buyers are paying US$ 12.5 million for the much delayed but recently completed “DELFINE” (9,131 dwt, Built Dongfang 2018, IMO II, epoxy, 10 tanks/pumps, MaK).
 
Stainless steel chemical tanker “KRISTIN KNUTSEN” (19,152 dwt, Built Gijon Naval 1998, IMO II/III, 32 tanks/pumps, B&W – 6,528 ldt) has been sold for US$ 6.2 million, equivalent to about US$ 950 per LDT, a high number which reflects vessel’s stainless steel content. Seacon Shipping, China is reported to be the buyer.
 
          
 
 
 
 
Bulkcarriers:
 
BDI: 1490 (1484). Average daily t/c rate for Capesize US$ 18,676 (18,600).
 
Greek buyers are paying US$ 13.5 million for Nissen Kaiun’s Cape size “OCEAN CELEBRITY” (177,638 dwt, Built Mitsui 2003, B&W – ss due 5/2021).
 
Greek buyers have also agreed to purchase the post-Panamax “TALIA” (92,997 dwt, Built Taizhou Kouan 2011, beam 38m, MAN-B&W) for US$ 17 million.
Supramax “NAUTICAL AMETHYST” (56,889 dwt, Built Jiangsu New Hantong 2011, cranes 4 x 30 tons, MAN-B&W) has obtained US$ 12.75 million from Greek buyers, possibly Load Line Marine. Other Greek owners are paying US$ 11.5 million for the Japan-built “MAEMI SPIRIT” (53,482 dwt, Built Iwagi Zosen 2008, cranes 4 x 30 tons, MAN-B&W – dd due). “SEA LANTANA” (52,471 dwt, Built Tsuneishi Japan 2004, cranes 4 x 30 tons, B&W) has obtained US$ 9 million reportedly with forward delivery in March of 2019.
         
Lauritzen is selling handy size “SIGNE BULKER” (32,755 dwt, Built Jiangmen Nanyang 2010, cranes 4 x 30 tons, MAN-B&W) to Greek buyers for US$ 9.6 million.
 
A couple of vintage handies have found buyers, “NIN” (28,373 dwt, Built Tsuneishi Cebu 2000, cranes 4 x 30 tons, MAN-B&W) at US$ 6.5 million with dd due and  “BOBAE FRONTIER”(28,387 dwt, Built Imabari 1996, cranes 4 x 30 tons, B&W – dd due 5/2019) at US$ 4.25 million to Chinese
 
Buyers are paying US$ 4.5 million for “HAPPINESS WAVE” (11,427 dwt, Built Nishi 2006, cranes 1 x 60 tons, 2 x 30 tons, MAN-B&W – dd due 11/2018); “STAR WENZHOU” (10,814 dwt, Built Zhejiang Haifeng 2012, cranes 2 x 20 tons, MaK) obtained the same price. “SUN JEWELRY” (9,045 dwt, Built Kanasahi 2008, cranes 2 x 30 tons, Hanshin) found buyers at US$3.9 million.
 
 
 
Containers:
 
Harbour-Link Group, Malaysia is paying US$ 3 million for “CONMAR DELTA” (735 TEU, 7,922 dwt, Built Sietas 2002, gearless, MaK).
 
          
NEWBUILDINGS         
 
Ultramax - Akmar Denizcilik has ordered one 61,000 dwt Ultramax at Dacks – Dalian COSCO KHI – for delivery 2020, no price has been reported.
 
Post-Panamax – Mitsui has won an order for three of its Neo 87BC design post-Panamax type bulkcarriers with deliveries commencing SH 2020. Neither the contract price or the name of the shipowner have been disclosed.
 
Handysize – one option one of 38,000 dwt for Turkish owners at Imabari; price US$ 24.5 million, delivery 2929.
 
Containers – eight option two option two of 2,800 TEU at JMU, Japan for Huanghai Shipping, China, delivery 2020.
 
 
 
 
DEMOLITION
 
For the second week running only two vessels are reported sold, details as below. The good news is that in Pakistan long-awaited cutting permits have been issued for a number of tankers. It is hoped this will stimulate release of the log-jam of unsold tankers currently in the hands of the cash buyers.
